NEW YORK (Justin Fans Website) - Justin Timberlake is reportedly campaigning for the lead role in the upcoming film version of the hit musical "Rent".

Director Chris Columbus said "there is a role for a pop star who can really sing, and Justin is dying to do it." However, he said that Justin would have to audition for the part like any other actor. Filming for "Rent" begins this fall in New York City and San Francisco.

Justin is expected to audition for the role of Roger, an HIV-positive songwriter living in the bohemian milieu of the East Village in the early nineties.
