FRANKLIN, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Naxos of America) Naxos of America is proud to announce that the Brazilian Guitar Quartet has garnered the 2011 Best Classical Album Latin GRAMMY for its Delos recording Brazilian Guitar Quartet Plays Villa-Lobos. The Quartet (Everton Gloeden, Gustavo Costa, Tadeu do Amaral, and Luiz Mantovani) acted as artist and producer on the winning recording, which marks the first ever Latin GRAMMY victory for the BGQ and the Delos label.
"It is wonderful to have this recognition for the BGQ, whose status in Brazil is iconic, both for their consummate arrangements and their dazzling performances. This is BQG's fifth recording with Delos and we consider each to be a masterpiece," said Carol Rosenberger, Delos Music General Director.
Praised by the Washington Post for their "seductive beauty" and "virtuosic gusto," the Brazilian Guitar Quartet (https://www.brazilianguitarquartet.com/) has established itself as one of world's leading guitar ensembles. The group's unique combination of regular six-string and extended-range eight-string guitars allows for the exploration of an original and unusual repertoire. In more than a decade of activity, the BGQ has performed more than 250 concerts in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia, often receiving ecstatic audience responses, garnering rave reviews, and meeting sold-out halls.
