DESOTO,
Texas (iHoopla Music) - Here at the Juneteenth celebration, on June 19, iHoopla Music, an online music store, will pay tribute to African-American-originated music with a demonstration of its artist-direct,
Internet music-distribution services for independent jazz, R&B, rap and hip-hop artists.
Juneteenth, which celebrates the end of slavery in Texas, will be held at the Desoto Town Center and is expected to attract as many as 30,000 people.
At the iHoopla Music booth, festival goers can purchase an audio/CDROM compilation disk that contains 10 audio tracks by 10 artists, including Yarbrough & Peoples.
Additionally, 10 full albums will reside on the CDROM half of the CD, and, through iHoopla technology, customers will be able to demo or purchase the albums.
Grammy-nominated R&B artists Yarbrough & Peoples will headline a free Juneteenth concert at 8:00 p.m. at the Town Center Amphitheater. The group is expected to perform its latest release, Pleasure Zone, currently available only on iHoopla Music, at https://www.ihoopla.com.
iHoopla Music makes it possible for a rapidly growing pool of independent artists to bring their sound to fans, not through traditional record labels, but directly to fans through the Internet. iHoopla Music co-founders John Perterson and Dave de Valk say that, prior to iHoopla, there was no economically viable way for independent artists with an established fan base to distribute their music. iHoopla Music allows artists to distribute their works via iHoopla's secure Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Payment Services.
"We were determined to create an online resource that would help artists reach their fans and, at the same time, capture revenue efficiently," said Peterson.
Yarbrough & Peoples signed with iHoopla earlier this month. "We found iHoopla an exciting alternative to how we have promoted our music in the past. It allows us to reach a global audience cost-effectively and return a fair profit to our independent record label."
