Toronto, CANADA (Top40 Charts/ Skylar Entertainment) On February 23, 2012 get ready to be taken out of this world at the Orbit Room in Toronto by
Amanda Davids Distinguishable In Difference EP Release party. With an arsenal of instruments including the Piano, Hammond Organ and a powerful three and a half octave soul voice, Davids' style as depicted by the album title is distinct, combining Hip hop, Funk and Jazz elements with urban modern production.
From the Urban Funk beats of her first single "
Naughty Boy" to the
Michael Jackson meets Timberland inspired "Gimme Some" she will keep you entertained. Fusing the bass concept from
James Brown's "Super Bad" with organ inspiration from Jon Lord on Deep Purple's "Living Wreck" she created a unique beat for the song "Naughty Boy." Davids wrote the song "
Waterfalls" after being inspired by The Roots' work with Erykah Badu.
Although this is Davids debut EP she is far from being a new artist having been working as a professional musician for ten years. "From the start of my career, I have encountered many obstacles, endured many failures and reached several dead ends as I tried to find myself as an artist and properly articulate my music," explains Davids. "The completion of this EP signifies my relentless dedication to preserve and create my musical vision and defend it against all compromise."
"
On My Own" at first sound seems to be about a break-up, however, that is only a metaphor. In fact it depicts the many let downs and hardships she has overcome in the industry, while " There's Nothing More" was written as a tribute to people who have been supportive in allowing Davids to endure the many criticism artists face.
Davids islooking forward to a exciting 2012 and finally being able to present her vision to the world. After launching the EP in Toronto in February, Davids' heads to Western
Europe for a tour before returning to North American for an Eastern Canada and US tour in May.
