Organised by the Student Services department, the week aims to highlight the importance of looking after your health, raise awareness of health issues common to musicians, and inform students of relevant organisations they can approach for appropriate support through a varied programme of activities. Health Week also coincides with
National Eating Disorder Awareness Week a nationwide initiative that is commited to providing help to those affected by eating disorders.
The Institute's Health Week will be presented as a series of talks, interactive Q&As and poster campaigns, each day will be dedicated to an area of physical or emotional wellness, including; 'Healthy Body', 'Healthy Mind' and 'Healthy Performer'. Students will have the opportunity to participate in interactive seminars led by health and industry professionals, book yoga sessions and sample fresh, organic meals prepared by local health food stores.
We are excited to confirm that experienced neuro-linguistic practitioner and tutor Neil
Martin and A'n'R and management specialist, Anna Russell, will be delivering our Performance Success, and Creating Your Artist Image workshops, respectively. We are delighted that The Musicians' Benevolent Fund, mental health charity MIND and ACS Hearing Protection will also be visiting the
Institute to speak about their services and inviting students to get involved.
The
Institute is delighted to support and advise students in matters relating to their health that can affect their day to day lives as well as the impact on their future well-being and development.
