The Spring Standards Announce 2-Disc Album, Share "Here We Go" MP3!
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Girlie Action Media & Marketing) In yellow//gold, The Spring Standards deliver 2 EPs that can be described as a set of fraternal twins, metamorphic stages, or acts in a drama. yellow is a nostalgic meandering through the trio's shared childhoods—they started playing folk music together as teenagers in the rural landscapes of the Pennsylvania/Delaware border. gold is a raucous burst of energy, a declaration of young life in a big city. Flush with rolling piano, wistful strings, and brittle to booming percussion, the power of yellow//gold comes from The Spring Standards' understanding that these are two different yet related stories that complicate and illuminate each other. The double-disc record is due out May 1, 2012 on Parachute Shooter Records.

"Tight soaring harmonies …"
- New York Magazine

"New York-based rockers the Spring Standard bring a touch of the Cars' spastic guitar crunch to "Here We Go," a soaring tune about those first hopeful flushes of romance.
- SPIN

Bursting forward over thrumming guitars, "Here We Go" was unleashed by SPIN today. A cautious yet hopeful song about the discovery of a pure love, download the "Here We Go" MP3 HERE. We encourage you to post and share.

yellow conveys a vast spectrum of emotion — it is warm and hopeful, yet undeniably dark and melancholy. It deals with realities that we can all relate to—longing, loss, and the desire to be understood. Tapping into the beauty and magic of youth, it opens with "Only Skin," a track that perfectly encompasses the inevitable sadness that comes with change and greatening distance. "Wildfire Forest" is a love song that tells a yearning tale of beauty and adventure. The ringing voices of "Heavy Home" capture the gravity of growing up in a place where everyone knows your name, and the anticipation of preparing yourself to leave.

In contrast, gold trades in the themes of home and youth for the sights and sounds of the urban landscape, evoking the exciting and sometimes unsettling feeling of movement, adventure and the unfamiliar. It is a wild meditation on growing up and moving forward rather than looking back. gold greets listeners with an immediate wave of distortion and handclaps on "Nightmare," a track filled with soulful vocals and sultry lyrics driven by a booming piano melody. Opening with a repetitive crackle reminiscent of a train's wheels in motion or a record that needs to be flipped, "Rusty Wheels" is a song of homecoming and the exciting challenges that come when following one's own path.

yellow//gold is a true dichotomy, and while each half stands fully on its own, together they embody a reflection on where these three songwriters have been and a prediction of where they are headed. gold's dynamic and bold instrumentation is starkly different than yellow's vocabulary of melody and harmony, but the juxtaposition makes the overall experience that much richer. Like a group of journeying troubadours, The Spring Standards tantalize the imagination with truthful, relatable stories and create a musical atmosphere that partners pain with incredible warmth.
