NASHVILLE, TN (Lyric Street Records) - Lyric Street recording artist, active duty U.S. Marine and "American Idol 2" alumnus Josh Gracin has the highest selling country male debut album to hit the charts in the last twelve years. Corresponding with the continuing success of his debut single, "I Want to Live" — which has been one of the fastest growing songs at Country Radio and is currently charting in the Top 15 — Josh Gracin sold 57,048 units its first week in the marketplace. Debuting at No 2 on Billboard's Top Country Album Chart and No 11 on the Top 200 Album Chart, Josh Gracin is the 4th biggest selling country debut album in the history of SoundScan, which began tracking unit sales in 1992. In addition, Josh Gracin also has the No 1 best selling country album on iTunes, the No 1 selling album (all genres) at AOL's music store and the No 1 requested country video on Yahoo! Launch. One of the highlights of "American Idol 2" was the success of Josh Gracin, a U.S. Marine and aspiring country singer whose performances won him hearts and votes across the country. The twenty-three year old Michigan native devoted to country music just released his self-titled debut album on Lyric Street Records on June 15, 2004. Currently stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, Josh will complete his military duty with an Honorable Discharge at the rank of Lance Corporal this September. He will then move to Nashville - joining his wife and daughter who are already getting settled in the area—to pursue his music career full-time. Lyric Street Records is a part of the Buena Vista Music Group. The Buena Vista Music Group is the recorded music and music publishing arm of The Walt Disney Company.
