NEW YORK (Meridian Entertainment, www.planetmeridian.com) - On Wednesday June 23rd, a host of R&B and radio legends, as well as special invited guests convened in celebration of the highly anticipated release of "Vaughn Harper presents Quiet Songs". The brand new album, a sensual collection of ballads and future classics was personally selected by popular New York air personality VAUGHN HARPER, voice of "THE QUIET STORM" (WBLS 107.5 FM).
It was an evening unlike no other at the beautiful and elegant Il Campanello Restaurant in New York City as the stylish & the classy set mingled and celebrated the debut release of "Quiet Songs" Due in stores on Tuesday June 29, 2004, "Quiet Songs" will be the first in a series of CDs on Luann/Orpheus Music with distribution through Sumthing Distribution.

The swanky affair was attended by R&B/Soul greats such as Nile Rogers (of Chic), The Persuaders, Ray, Goodman, and Brown, Alyson Williams, and Robert "Kool" Bell (of Kool & the Gang). Radio personalities such as Hal Jackson and G. Keith Alexander also came through to show full support for Vaughn Harper's project. The dimly-lit room was alive and buzzing with excitement as the guests were treated to cocktails and dinner, as Mr. Harper himself shook hands, embraced fans old and new, amid the background theme music from the "Quiet Songs" CD.

Charismatic and always charming, Harper took the stage and graciously thanked his guests for coming through. He said, "I've wanted to do something like this for quite some time. So it is with great pleasure that I can say everything has come together at the right time for this series of CDs to be presented. I recognize that I can't bring my entire show to this CD, but believe me, it comes close to that experience." Harper proceeded to introduce 17-year old chanteuse, Chantel Rose who wowed the audience with a song titled, "Hello". Rose set the stage for saxophonist Andre Ward performing "Every Time I Open My Eyes" and "All I Ever Ask", a duet with Chantel Rose. Closing out the set, Andre Ward brought down the house with his instrumental version of the undeniable hit single, "Step In The Name Of Love."

For almost two decades; millions of New Yorkers have enhanced their evenings with the "QUIET STORM", the Tri-State area's number-one night time music radio program hosted by "velvet-voiced" air personality, Vaughn Harper. Harper's critically acclaimed program remains among the top rated FM shows from the United States to Japan.

"Quiet Songs" contains songs and artists that are Harper's favorites featuring legendary R&B greats such as Freddie Jackson, Ray, Goodman & Brown, and emerging artists such as saxophonist Andre Ward, 17-year old vocalist, Chantel Rose, Conya Doss, Maurice J., Tina Moore, Amon Rashidi, Alicia Peoples and Lorenzo Owens.

Through the years Vaughn has tried to bring some of the best music to New York radio. It has been a blend of past, present and future music classics. He says, "I like to call them "Quiet Songs". These songs help me relieve the stresses of everyday life. I have spent many years discovering some very obscure and almost forgotten music. But, some of these songs, I feel are important enough to bring together for your listening pleasure."

"Vaughn Harper presents Quiet Songs" promises to delight fans old and new and a must-have in any CD collection. The set is a perfect way to wind down the day or spend an evening with loved one.
