Enjoy A Night Of Jazz With Kaylene Peoples, Jaman Laws, And Guest Performer/Mistress Of Ceremony Chase Masterson On April 8, 2012
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ First Take PR) April 8, 2012 promises to be a memorable Easter. With jazz singer/flautist Kaylene Peoples and saxophonist Jaman Laws, it's sure to be a night of pure musical delight. This combination of musical styles makes for an exceptional evening of entertainment. The Wire Image, red carpet event will take place at the legendary Catalina Jazz Club (aka Catalina Bar & Grill), located at 6725 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The event honors a great year of tennis, 2011. The mistress of ceremony, Chase Masterson (Star Trek & ER), will perform a special song during Kaylene's set.

"I am thrilled to be working with Kaylene Peoples, one of the very most talented vocalists and musicians in the landscape of urban jazz music today. With AGENDA MAGAZINE on board, this event promises to be an unforgettable smorgasbord of fashion and sound. I'm very much looking forward to it," says Chase Masterson.

This musical pairing was bound to happen eventually. Kaylene Peoples has always been a huge fan of 3-time Grammy nominee Hubert Laws, and it was just a matter of time before the next generation Laws made her acquaintance. Jaman Laws is the son of legendary Ronnie Laws and nephew of Hubert Laws; and he, too, is a musical wonder.

Kaylene Peoples states, "I recently shot and directed Jaman's music video, 'The X Factor,' and I was amazed at his ability to transform during his performance. He is definitely a born entertainer. And yes, I guess he gets it naturally! I asked Jaman what 'The X Factor' meant. His response was . . .'I'm the new generation Laws.'"

The personnel for the evening consists of Los Angeles' finest jazz musicians: Cory Mason on drums; Mark Hammond on guitar; Kevin Flournoy on piano; and Del Atkins on bass.

About the Musicians

Kaylene Peoples:
Kaylene Peoples is a triple threat. She is a singer with a 5-octave range and is a multi-instrumentalist. Her soloing instrument of choice is flute (in honor of her late father, James Peoples Sr., who was a big supporter of her music career. He nurtured her love for the instrument). In 2005, Kaylene released her first jazz album ALL JAZZED UP! which topped the independent music charts; and her second jazz album titled MY MAN is scheduled for release this summer. Kaylene is a multi-award-winner entertainment professional. She directed the multi-award-winning feature film REDEMPTION; produced a LA Music Awards-winner album and Best New Artist Christina Fasano SPIRITUALLY WET; and is the publisher and editor-in-chief of the popular online fashion and lifestyle magazine AGENDA MAGAZINE. Kaylene Peoples is the ultimate seasoned musician. She mesmerizes her audiences with her musical prowess and impresses them with her unique and intricate musical arrangements. Her vocal style echoes the singers Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan; and her musical range is reminiscent of Dave Brubeck, Billy Strayhorn, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Kaylene encompasses alluring qualities of 1960s jazz—her music takes you back, but always brings with it something new.

Jaman Laws:
The son of legendary saxophonist Ronnie Laws, Jaman Laws showed an interest in music at an early age. While traveling on tour with his father, Jaman gravitated to many of the jazz greats (Earth, Wind and Fire; Miles Davis; John Coltrane; Stevie Wonder; The Jazz Crusaders). At the age of ten, his father bought him his first alto saxophone and encouraged him to study music in school. After graduating from high school, he attended junior college while performing on the road with his father. He later played at open jam sessions, playing reggae, R&B, hip-hop, and jazz. He has since performed with drummer Norman Conners, his two aunts Eloise and Debra Laws; and showcased his talents on HBO's "Lakawanna Blues." Eventually Jaman wrote and arranged his own music, consisting of a fusion of hip-hop, funk, jazz, and soul. Jaman has just finished his first solo album entitled IMAGERY, produced by Craig T. Cooper and Ronnie Laws to be released later this year.

Chase Masterson:
Chase Masterson first became internationally known for her five-year break-out role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," one of the highest-rated syndicated shows of all time. Fans also recognize her from "General Hospital," her guest-starring role on the Emmy-winning episode of "ER," and leads in several critically acclaimed films. AOL recently listed Chase as one of their "10 Sexiest Aliens in TV History," and she was named one of the "50 Sexiest Women of the Year" by FEMME FATALES MAGAZINE. FILM FETISH MAGAZINE listed her as one of the "Hot Leading Ladies" of film for her role in the award-winning feature YESTERDAY WAS A LIE (Entertainment One), in which she plays a mysterious jazz artist and sings four songs. Known to millions of fans worldwide, TV Guide Online Reader's Poll voted Chase the "#1 Favorite Science Fiction Actress on Television," and SCI-FI UNIVERSE MAGAZINE honored Chase as one of the "Top 20 People to Watch in Hollywood."
