NEW YORK (J Records/BMG) - "I Believe" Also Hit No 1 on Soundscan's Top 200 Single Sales Chart and the R&B Single Sales Charts!; Fantasia Kicks off a National Tour with the Top Ten American Idol Finalists on July 14 in Salt Lake City Fantasia, the 2004 "American Idol" winner and J Records' recording artist, is celebrating her 20th birthday with some great news!
Her first single, "I Believe," is No 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart! "I Believe" also hit No 1 today on the R&B singles sales charts (according to Nielsen Soundscan). In addition to the single's sales success, "I Believe" was the #1 most added single at AC Radio this week.
With sales this week of 142,141 units, "I Believe" is the highest one-week sales scanned for any single in the past year. The last time a single scanned this much was Clay Aiken's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," the week of June 22, 2003.
The single sent to radio and retail on June 22 also includes Fantasia's show stopping rendition of the classic "Summertime" along with a powerhouse version of "Chain Of Fools," the lead track on the recently-released "American Idol Season 3: Greatest Soul Classics (RCA Records)."

The High Point, North Carolina native, who presented the award for "Male Hip Hop Artist" last night at the BET Awards (the night before her birthday today, June 30) is currently rehearsing for the "American Idol" national tour. The tour will stop in 49 cities and features the top 10 finalists from the top-rated FOX television show. The tour begins on July 14 in Salt Lake City and wraps-up in Hawaii on September 30.
