New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Cocky da Homo MC Official Website) Hip Hop is known for its abrasive lyrics and controversial figures, but has up-and-coming openly-gay rapper Cocky da Homo MC gone too far? The 25-year-old's latest mixtape "Cockaveli" released last Monday night, May 28th, on Datpiff.com (amongst other mixtape websites), has generated much criticism from hip hop heads not so much for Cocky's lyrical abilities, or perceived lack thereof, but for his actual content.
Throughout the 50 minute tape, the brazen MC lambasts Eminem, describes in vivid detail what he'd like to do, sexually, to fellow rappers Soulja Boy and The Game, taunts Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich (going as far as mention his ex-wife's cancer at that), encourages gay teenagers to form violent gangs "like the black man," proclaims himself the antichrist, bashes the city he grew up in, namely Pittsburgh, and if all that's not enough, the mixtape opens with a brief tirade against The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Styles P, and 50 Cent -- rap legends!
A slew of internet communities have spoken out against Cocky da Homo Mc, some members going as far as calling out death threats on the rapper. Cocky commented on the fiasco, "Trayvon had skittles when he got shot. Skittles form a rainbow. In 50 years those hating me will be the rednecks and the hillbillies of the world. I am Trayvon Martin."
