Angie Stone's New Single "Do What U Gotta Do," Breaks Into Top 20 On Urban AC Chart
Atlanta, GA (Top40 Charts/ Webster & Associates) Angie Stone made a powerful return to the airwaves with her new single, "Do What U Gotta Do," which was the most-added track to urban AC radio stations throughout the country its debut week, making it the highest debuting song and propelling her into the #25 spot on the BDS UAC chart with a bullet. The single continues to race up the charts and is now in the Top 20. The first song off of her upcoming album, Rich Girl(due in stores on September 25th), "Do What U Gotta Do" beat out singles by R. Kelly, John Legend, Robin Thicke and more to take the top spot among new songs added to radio playlists in the format. The video for "Do What U Gotta Do" is currently in production.

Tavis Smiley called the song "an upbeat, soulful track that talks about standing strong through tough times" during his interview with Stone last week while she was in Los Angeles for a performance and party hosted by the influential radio station KJLH. "Do What U Gotta Do," with its mix of guitars and groove set to a sing-along chorus, is anchored by a message strong enough to hold its own against the hypnotic melody. Y'anna Crawley (a winner of the BET singing competition "Sunday Best") wrote the lyrics specifically for Angie. "I knew right off the bat it was a song for me," recalls Angie. "It was speaking to my spirit, it resolved some situations about music I had in my mind. It was telling me to keep my head up, saying 'you can make it and do what you gotta do,' giving me the beginning of the new album and the resolve to make it into something beyond anything I had ever done before."

Angie Stone has been nominated for three Grammy Award nominations, two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, and four Top 10 R&B albums (with her The Art of Love & War going all the way to number one). Her newest album, Rich Girl, will be released on September 25th on SRR Records.
