New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Elektra Records) Elektra recording group Wolf Gang has announced plans for their widest ranging North American headline tour thus far. The dates begin October 1st at West Hollywood's legendary Troubadour and then continue through early November (see below itinerary). Support on most dates of the tour will come from The Royal Concept. Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public beginning on Friday, August 3rd, and pre-sale tickets will be available beginning at 12pm local time on Wednesday, August 1st at tixx1.artistarena.com/wolfgang.
Earlier this spring, Wolf Gang played a number of headline shows and made a memorable appearance at this year's Coachella Valley
Music & Arts Festival. The upcoming tour -- which heralds Wolf Gang's acclaimed debut album, "SUEGO FAULTS" -- comes hot on the heels of the British band's recent run of U.S. arenas supporting Coldplay. The band recently revealed a video on their YouTube channel that illustrated to warm reception they received (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR3Vy1gtvwk).
"We had the most amazing time," says Wolf Gang's Max McElligott of the
Coldplay trek. "It really exceeded our expectation of how it would be, which was already pretty high! I genuinely think that the crowds we played to enjoyed our set, we had a really positive response on our Twitter and Facebook, and each night we would go and do a meet-and-greet for whoever wanted to come and say hi, we were kind of taken aback at how many people turned up each night!"
"SUEGO FAULTS" is highlighted by the hit single, "The King And All Of His Men," which hit #1 on SiriusXM's "Alt Nation." In addition, the album includes the UK smash, "Lions In Cages," currently heard soundtracking a national ad campaign for General Motors (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrarouJB_s4).
Named one of the "100 Best Things In The World Right Now," by GQ UK, Wolf Gang has proven a proper sensation in their native United Kingdom. Originally the brainchild of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Max McElligott, the album's romantic, surreal, and imaginative sound is showcased on tracks such as "
Planets" and "Dancing With The Devil." "SUEGO FAULTS" was co-produced by the legendary Dave Fridmann (MGMT, The Flaming Lips, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), who discovered McElligott's original bedroom demo of "Lions In Cages" back in October 2010 and swiftly invited him to record at his world famous Tarbox Road Studios in upstate Cassadaga, New York.
Inspired by the likes of Talking Heads, Roxy
Music and
David Bowie, as well as more contemporary artists such as Arcade Fire, Wolf Gang's sound packs in an abundance of suave panache, ear-thwacking beats and heart-throttling melodies. McElligott and his crack combo have quickly cultivated a dedicated and avid fan base through two years of nearly non-stop live performances, including headline tours, support slots with Coldplay, Florence + The Machine, The Killers, Miike Snow, Metric, and The Naked And Famous, countless festival appearances (including our own SXSW), as well as topping the bill on the influential 2011 NME Radar Tour. Wolf Gang has received a plethora of praise including NME hailing McElligott as "indie rock's best new songwriter," and the Guardian applauding their "shiny, tuneful arena-ready pop-rock."
