"Music education is near and dear to my heart. It was a core part of my childhood, and now obviously my career path," said Jaclyn Dima. "I can't imagine my life without it. We are so excited to be a part of providing that kind of access to children who would not otherwise be exposed to music."
For Dima, working with GIFT Productions on this fundraiser just makes good sense. "It's a great fit for us. Besides providing necessary music education, GIFT understands the plight of musicians and other artists trying to make an impact in the industry," Dima said. "They recognize how difficult it is, even with a music education, so they're trying to bridge that gap by bringing artists and the industry together."
"This is a win for everyone in the community: underserved children receive funding for important arts and music educational programs, artists have a chance to showcase their work, and the community gets a chance to foster a thriving arts and music scene," said Michael Friedman, PhD, president and founder of GIFT Productions.
About Jaclyn Dima and the Shakey Tables
Singer/songwriter Jaclyn Dima fuses blues, folk, and rock pop to create a soulfully unique style of her own. In 2009, Jaclyn released her debut album, The Fall of Finding You, with her producer and friend, Hank Woods. Her most recent music publishing success was placement of her song Beautiful on Lifetime Movie Network's Dance Moms show. This past year, a solo project has evolved into a collaborative experience: Shakey Tables. Their new songs, I Like Your Shoes, Mr. Vampire, and Lullaby, are creating a buzz in the live New York City indie music scene. With steady gigs throughout New York City at venues such as the West Village's famed Bitter End, Arlene's Grocery, Rockwood
Music Hall, and the brand new
National Underground, Jaclyn Dima and the Shakey Tables deliver on its primary goal: to provide a good time to all who listen.
A native of Cincinnati, Jaclyn grew up in a musical family, resulting in early exposure to the fundamentals of jazz, piano, and music theory. Jaclyn studied at the Jacobs School of
Music at
Indiana University in Bloomington.
