New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ De Luca Events) Powerhouse pop, house, and electronic musical group, Mary Keey, has announced the release of their new single, "
Closer", which follows the very successful July release of their 3 track EP, "O.M.G.". "
Closer" is now available at major online retailers iTunes, Rhapsody, CD Baby, and Mary Keey's official website.
Some musicians are great alone, but together, have a tremendous synergy that greatly multiplies their talents. That's the case with the Mary Keey, who received accolades from media and fans alike after the release of their first single, "Not Good Enough", in January 2010 which was added to several popular radio playlists like Kanal K in Switzerland. The Fall 2010 tour which followed was a huge success, garnering even more new fans. Currently in talks with several European labels, the group is expanding its fan base to the U.S. and other countries. In July 2012, the band released their first EP, containing the songs "O.M.G", "No Sound", and "It's Music". They toured the U.S. east coast via a partnership with
De Luca Events, selling out shows across New York City. The group, which began as a duo with members Mary (vocals and guitar), and Phil (guitar, background vocals, arranger, and producer) who met in Switzerland in 2009 while on separate tours, is now a quartet, with new members Lizzy (drums), and Al B. on bass.
Commenting on 'the secret formula' to Mary Keey's success, Mary said, "There are certainly characteristics of DJs in our music, but you get the emotion of having a band of four very unique, but well synched elements, and we make sure the party goes on and on. Our sound is refreshingly distinctive, but our influences include artists like Rihanna, Pitbull,
David Guetta, Kes$ha, and Nicky Minaj. In fact, we were able to play New York because our style is so different. We submitted the song "O.M.G." to a Sonicbids contest from the Real
Radio Show, and it was selected over thousands of other submissions. They called us to perform on their show in New York, and gave us the contact of our new booking agency in the U.S.,
De Luca Events. We played 7 shows (one of them on the radio) in 10 days, July 9th - 14th, 2012. We even played at Kenny's Castaway on Saturday night, where bands such as Mark Knopfler,
Rod Stewart and
Bruce Springsteen played before. That was such a great emotion for us.
MusicDish reviewers critiquing the single said: "
Closer" is an addictively catchy, up tempo feel good song that has a pop and Caribbean fusion feel to it. Great percussion and harmonizing with interesting twists of synth are the hallmark of this track. A bumping bass line, grooving guitar and other accents, including great phrasing and mixing make "
Closer" a song that will burn up the club circuits, but it will also be popular for cruising in the car, or just having friends over for a good time. Mary really puts her heart into this vocal performance, and it almost sounds as if it was recorded at a party, the vibe is so genuine. There's also a touch of rap by a gentleman whose voice and style perfectly complement the cut. If you like good music or love to dance, this is a song that you'll definitely want to get "
Closer" to.
"
Closer" is available for purchase through iTunes, CD Baby, and Rhapsody. "
