New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Karim Theilgaard - International artist and TCK (Third Culture Kid) - is set to release the follow-up single to his successful solo debut. Entitled "Strangers On The Floor", this song contrasts his previous by showing a more mellow side to his songwriting while always maintaining a dynamic drive.
Recorded in Denmark as well as at London's Abbey Road and Konk Studios, "Strangers On The Floor" features a delicate piano melody backed by acoustic rhythm guitars. Engineering the recordings was Karim's long-term collaborator Dougal Lott and Abbey Road engineer
Peter Mew.
"I used to dream about recording at these legendary places - feeling the legacy embrace me is quite daunting but such a thrill! To now realize these dreams is a truly awesome sensation."
As always, Karim prefers not to go too much in to detail regarding the meaning of the lyrics wishing in stead to leave it up to each listener to derive his or her particular interpretation. However, he does reveal the song was inspired by the encounters one has when meeting new people and the conflict between wishing to embrace the new, yet finding comfort in past emotions and experiences.
"You become conscious of how differently doing the same thing with a new person feels. You might find yourself sentimentalizing past encounters. But putting things in perspective can also mean moving forward. Yes, this is different, it's a new feeling - it's exciting!"
Karim Theilgaard reaffirms his dedication to crossing artistic fields with his work in fashion and film-making. Accompanying the release is a mini-documentary filmed by Lithuanian director
Simona Zinevičiūtė, as well as a series of intimate, behind-the-scenes photos. Shot by the young art-photographer Linas Justice, they capture Karim's creative process in the studio.
In addition, Karim shows his eye for fashion with the visually striking cover art, photographed by Californian fashion photographer and DJ Tony Adams. Dramatically cropped and hinting at movement, the image leaves it to the viewer to interpret the pre-ceeding story frozen in time while leaving the subsequent progression to the imagination.
"Strangers On The Floor" is released 10th December 2012 and available in all major online retail stores and streaming services.
