NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - The latest leg of Weezer's tour starts September 11 in San Jose, California, and runs through September 29, when the band hits Jones Beach, New York. Cold is supporting on all dates. Weezer is touring in support of its self-titled third release (also known as the "Green Album"), which features the hit "Hash Pipe." The second single from the album, "Island In The Sun," currently sits at Number 13 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.

If history is any indication, look for Weezer to debut new material on the tour. Singer-songwriter Rivers Cuomo and guitarist Brian Bell told that the band debuted songs from the "Green Album" on the road prior to its release. Says Cuomo, "We played 'Hash Pipe,' 'Don't Let Go,' and 'Island In The Sun,' and those are all on the new record.". Bell adds, "And they seemed like they were received pretty well. I could tell--they came at a part in the section of the set, about midway through, and then it was all this energy at the beginning. People knew all the songs. Our songs are the kind of songs that people want to sing along to, so they didn't know the words. They were more listening and reserved, but after the song was finished they went crazy, so that was a good sign."

Bassist Mikey Welsh, who recently checked himself into a mental health facility, likely won't be with Weezer on this leg of the tour. The band hasn't heard from Welsh and is preparing to tour with Broken bass player Scott Shiner in Welsh's stead. Weezer has been working on new material and is expected to release a new album in May 2002.
