LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Radio Free Virgin has voluntarily removed the record function from its proprietary player. The Webcaster has not received any expressions of concern from the music industry but felt that, in the current climate of uncertainty regarding the legal issues surrounding its industry, it was best to cease the feature. "While fans were quick to embrace this new feature, the delicate climate of the digital music industry has prompted us to reassess its long-term value," Radio Free Virgin general manager Zack Zalon said. "But the labels were less shocked than we thought they would be." He said that there were no objections from the Recording Industry Association of America, either. "It's useful and cool but not compelling," Zalon said of the ability to record selected songs. "And purchasing relative to usage has not gone up."
