NEW YORK (City Canyons Records/ www.random-minds.com) - Within the realms of New York there is a little bit of magic in the air. The source: City Canyon Records, the little record label that could. When the independent label's offices in downtown Manhattan were destroyed amidst the tragic events of 9/11, before they even had a chance to release their first album, things seemed gloomy. However, that didn't stop the label and it went on to make its debut with Jen Elliott's "The Secret's Out.' Elliott's album went on to top college radio charts and garner critical acclaim from Keyboard Magazine, Inside Connection, Entertainment Weekly, Entertainment Today, Outline Magazine and more. Now City Canyon is ready to release, not one, but two, astonishing treats: The "hot' Finnish group Valerian and the oh so cool UK rocker David Steele. The two couldn't be anymore different on the surface, varying as widely in style as they do in geographic origin. David is introspective and moody along the lines of Coldplay while Valerian is sizzling pop metal with tasty guitar solos. But what both Valerian and David Steele share is a big range, a big sound and an even bigger heart. Originally planned for release on two different dates, City Canyon has now opted for a blockbuster release for the two stars on the rise. David Steele's UNDERNEATH THE ICE and Valerian's INTIMATIONS OF SORROW will light up the music industry on November 2nd, 2004. Two sides of the coin, on one date, from the little label that could, City Canyon Records.
