NEW YORK (Missy Elliott Fans Website) - Top U.S. hip-hop, rap and R&B artists have recorded the 1960's song, Wake Up Everybody, to raise money for an anti-Bush voter mobilization group (Wake Up Everybody was originally a hit by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes). A full-length CD, to be released Monday, features Wake Up Everybody performed by Kenny Babyface Edmonds, Tracey Edmonds, Russell Simmons and Jonathan Lewis. All proceeds will go to America Coming Together, a non-profit group led by Ellen Malcolm. Malcolm is president of EMILY'S list, a group that seeks to get pro-choice women elected to public office. My wife Tracey and I, along with Russell Simmons and Jonathan Lewis, want to help make a change in this country, Edmonds said in a statement announcing the CD. This song is the spirit of the country and all these artists have the will to change it, empower the young voters and create a movement for people to vote and change the current administration. Among other songs on the album are Give Peace A Chance by Yoko Ono, Why? What's Goin' On? by the Roots, You're No Good by Linda Rondstadt and What's Goin' On? by Marvin Gaye.
