Banff National Park, Alberta (Top40 Charts/ Banff & Lake Louise Tourism) Serena Ryder, the soulful Canadian songstress and Juno Award-winning artist known for her powerful vocal range and hits like Stompa and
Calling To Say, will headline Banff's fourth annual Performance in the Park, June 22, 2013.
Presented as part of the 2013 Banff Summer Arts Festival, the Performance in the Park outdoor concert will take place in the town of Banff's scenic
Cascade Gardens where supporting acts Coeur de Pirate and Said The Whale will also perform to what is traditionally a sold-out crowd.
Performance in the Park, produced in partnership with Parks Canada, The Banff Centre and Banff Lake
Louise Tourism, was introduced in 2010 to celebrate the destination's mountain heritage and the importance of protected places in Canada. As with previous years' concerts, all of which were completely sold-out, this year's event will see a portion of ticket sales going to the Banff Stewardship Fund which seeks to increase awareness of the significance and relevance of Banff
National Park.
"Performance in the Park has become one of the highly-anticipated and beloved events held in Banff
National Park," said Stu Back of Banff Lake
Louise Tourism. "We welcome fans of both the park and these talented Canadian artists to enjoy a beautiful day of songs and summer in the Rockies as we celebrate our mountain culture."
Serena Ryder, 31, who hails from the small town of Millbrook, Ontario, first came to the attention of Canadian music lovers with her breakout album Unlikely Emergency in 2004. Her most recent album, Harmony, was released in 2012 and is being lauded as the boldest of her career to date, earning her recent Juno nominations for Best Single of the Year for Stompa and Best Adult Alternative Album of the Year. Ryder has already earned three Juno Awards for Best New Artist (2008), Best Adult Alternative Album (2009), and Best Video (2010) as well as two Canadian gold albums.
Ryder will be accompanied by French-Canadian artist Béatrice Martin, better known by fans as Coeur de Pirate, and Vancouver-based rock-indie band, Said The Whale, also recently nominated for a Juno Award for Best Alternative Album of the Year.
