Portland, Ore (Top40 Charts / CD Baby) CD Baby, the world's largest online distributor of unsigned music, has just announced that it will be the first major indie music aggregator to partner with Shazam, the world's leading media engagement company, integrating its music library onto the Shazam database. Hundreds of thousands of CD Baby musicians, including the country's leading Jazz, Folk, and Indie Rock artists, will have their songs added to Shazam's database. More than three hundred million people around the world who use the popular Shazam App can now discover, explore, buy and share music by a CD Baby artist.
"Shazam is the most popular music discovery app in the world," says CD Baby president Brian Felsen . "And it's a big win for our artists to be included in that database. No matter where their music is played — in a bar, a café, on the radio, or anywhere else — a new fan is only a couple of taps away. "
Shazam's audio recognition technology has revolutionized the music discovery process. If a listener is curious which artist performed a particular song, all they need to do is grab their phone or tablet, open the Shazam App, hold it up to the music source, and Shazam will automatically display the artist, album, and song name — linking to online stores like iTunes and Amazon where the music can be purchased.
"Now, if you're a CD Baby artist, your music can be discovered by Shazam users and easily shared on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter," says Felsen. "And best of all, it's included as part of our distribution service so there's no additional cost to the artist."
