New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ United For Opportunity Records) United For Opportunity (UFO) record label is thrilled to distribute Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, Paula Cole's new, independent debut album, Raven. The Huffington Post remarked "Almost 20 years after lighting the flame, Cole remains a highly efficient form of energy. Let's hope she keeps turning up the extreme heat." Available April 23rd, the album will be the first released through her own 675 Records and comes on the 20th anniversary of her performance debut on Peter Gabriel's "Secret World Live" tour and her own debut album Harbinger (Imago Records).
Turning to her loyal fan-base, Raven takes flight with support from a very successful fan-funding campaign via Kickstarter wherein Cole achieved %150 of her campaign goals. The album is Cole's first independent release and marks her departure from major record labels. Peter Casperson, CEO of United For Opportunity remarked on working with Cole, "One of UFO's core missions is to allow career artists to have their own label identities while we provide the business and back office for their creative efforts."
Cole's voice remains as strong and vibrant as ever, whether whispering softly or wheeling in emotional plea, Raven explores a new chapter in the life of Paula Cole. With a nod to her Harbinger-styled, Americana storytelling roots, the album exposes a matured artist contemplating age-old themes of longing, sex and feminism. "In the five minutes of one song she can travel through a whole relationship, an entire adolescence or zoom into a specific moment in which she's able to open a world that shows the listener the complexities of the human experience"(Glide Magazine). The songs " Life Goes On" and "Eloise" tell stories of family, heartache and love. And "Strong Beautiful Woman" is catchy and anthemic, a mantra for mothers and daughters alike. "It's this poetic skill that has always set her above so many others in contemporary music" (Glide Magazine). There is no question Cole remains in a class all her own.
