LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Vision Music Promotions) 'Tephra' is the first single taken from GO-X's forthcoming E.P. 'The Adventures of St.Julian the Courageous'.
"GO-X shudder and shake the stage with twisting rhythms, jerky riffs and a touch of
Skindred ragga metal!"
- Kerrang! Magazine
"Guitars like razorblades of holy harmonic defiance, throats of napalm.. shoved me like the bull-bars of a Chelsea tractor"
- BBC Adam Walton,
Radio Wales
"Blisteringly powerful, as crisp, as punchy, and as infections as The
Blackout or Kids In Glass Houses.. Slices of Anthemic Welsh Rock in their own right" 8/10 - Rocksound
It is the return of the funk, indie, rock fusion that propelled the young Welsh band onto the touring circuit back in 2011. After 4 nationwide tours, supporting established rock bands such as You Me At Six, Elliot Minor, The Blackout, Young Guns,
Hundred Reasons and Funeral For a Friend; frontman Joshua Linder suffered serious vocal damage, crippling the singer and the band who were on the verge of breaking. Forced to delay the completion of their last tour, the band went into incubation and almost threw in the towel. However through an almost labour of love experience during their year away the band retreated to their studio and began forging a new creative approach writing and producing whilst Joshua recovered from surgery. With all hopes seemingly dashed, some early pre-mixed tracks attracted unprecedented interest and within a matter of days reignited GO-X's fanbase, demanding a new tour as well as the new material. GO-X are returning with a slower melody driven sound.
The band's first single is "Tephra" an upbeat and uncompromising indie rock anthem of punishing bass lines and a flurry of fast lead guitar riffs. The song almost mirrors the journey of the band hitting rock bottom and dragging themselves through hell. In stark contrast the band's second single "
Runaway" (due later this year) is an acoustic ballad of sorts highlighting singer Joshua Linder and guitarist Avalon Rivers who recorded the song in one take. With a driving melody and raw instrumentation Runaway shows a band now un phased by the challenges they face, and a band refusing to give in. With a successful nationwide tour in February and March already completed to herald the return of GO-X, the band are stronger than ever before, with more support and music that really hits the core of what it means to be GO-X. GO-X are Joshua Lindner, Avi Rivers and
Murphy Lee Turner.
