R.I.P.D. Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Album Releases Today
Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts / Back Lot Music) Releasing today digitally on Back Lot Music is the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Album from the film R.I.P.D., Universal Pictures' upcoming 3D supernatural action-adventure starring Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds. The album features 22 new cues by composer Christophe Beck (Pitch Perfect, The Hangover, Red) and an original song from the film sung by Bridges and produced by Academy Award®- and Grammy Award-winning-producer T Bone Burnett. The film releases nationwide on Friday, July 19.

Bridges and Reynolds headline the 3D supernatural action-adventure R.I.P.D. as two cops dispatched by the otherworldly Rest In Peace Department to protect and serve the living from an increasingly destructive array of souls who refuse to move peacefully to the other side.

Veteran sheriff Roy Pulsifer (Bridges) has spent his career with the legendary police force known as R.I.P.D. tracking monstrous spirits who are cleverly disguised as ordinary people. His mission? To arrest and bring to justice a special brand of criminals trying to escape final judgment by hiding among the unsuspecting on Earth.

Once the wisecracking Roy is assigned former rising-star detective Nick Walker (Reynolds) as his junior officer, the new partners have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork. When they uncover a plot that could end life as we know it, two of R.I.P.D.'s finest must miraculously restore the cosmic balance...or watch the tunnel to the afterlife begin sending angry souls the very wrong way.

R.I.P.D. is directed by Robert Schwentke (Red) and produced by Neal H. Moritz (Fast & Furious series, I Am Legend), Mike Richardson (Hellboy, Hellboy II: The Golden Army) and Michael Fottrell (Fast & Furious series, Live Free or Die Hard).

Christophe Beck is an Emmy-winning composer who recently scored such comedic hits as The Muppets (Parts I and II), The Hangover (Parts I, II and III), Tower Heist, The Watch and Pitch Perfect. In addition to big comedies—like Crazy, Stupid, Love, Red, Due Date and Date Night—Beck has staged the drama for films like We Are Marshall, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Elektra, The Sentinel, Under the Tuscan Sun; indie films including Year of the Dog, Phoebe in Wonderland, Saved!; and the award-winning documentary Waiting for Superman. Beck's other recent scores include The Guilt Trip, directed by Anne Fletcher and starring Barbra Streisand and Seth Rogen; the Disney short entitled Paperman; the indie drama The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, starring Shia LaBeouf; and The Internship, directed by Shawn Levy and starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

The Canadian composer played piano from the age of five, studied music at Yale and attended the USC film-scoring program under composers such as Jerry Goldsmith. He started composing in television at the personal recommendation of Buddy Baker, and was soon writing for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which led to an Emmy nomination). "I don't tend to look under the hood too much," Beck says about his process. "It's really very instinctual, from-the-hip and, from an actual process point of view, improvisational."
