Trombone Shorty To Release New Album 'Say That To Say This' Produced By Raphael Saadiq And Troy Andrews, Sept. 10 On Verve Records

New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews will release 'Say That To Say This,' the follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2011 album 'For True,' September 10 on Verve Records. Produced by Raphael Saadiq and Andrews, the album's ten tracks find the horn dynamo and electrifying vocalist - praised by the New York Times as an "unstoppable force" - at his most sophisticated and accomplished in the studio. The record also finds Andrews reuniting funk legends The Meters with Cyril Neville for their first studio recording together since 1977, a 21st Century take on their ballad "Be My Lady." "It's really funky, like James Brown funk mixed with New Orleans Meters and Neville Brothers mixed with what I do on top," says Andrews. "And we have a bit of R&B from Raphael's side." The New Orleans icon has confirmed a relentless tour schedule in support of the album, performing at the Newport Folk Festival, Outside Lands, the Santa Monica Pier, and Central Park Summerstage, as well as dates with The Avett Brothers, Zac Brown Band, and Grace Potter. Hailed as "New Orleans' brightest new star in a generation" (NPR), Trombone Shorty burst onto the national scene with 2010's Grammy-nominated 'Backatown' and followed it up a year later with 'For True,' which spent 12 weeks in the top slot on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Chart. Since the album's release, he's performed at The White House, played on recent releases by everyone from Zac Brown to Rod Stewart to Cee Lo Green, and initiated a mentoring program at Tulane University via his Trombone Shorty Foundation.
