LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ ICMP) The Shure Songwriting Award contest has now come to an end and it is time to announce the winner. Famous winners of the past include Elena Tonra founder of the band 'Daughter' who has seen rising fame with their LP 'If You Leave' and playing at festival major festivals such as Glastonbury. This year has seen over 80 entries into the competition, all battling for a scholarship onto the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance's Songwriting Cert HE.
This year's winner was chosen by celebrity judge Frank Turner who is currently touring the world with his new album 'Tape Deck Heart'. Frank is notorious for his hands on approach to the music industry and is an inspiration to aspiring singer/songwriters across the globe.
After viewing the top three most voted videos, and 5 entries chosen by a judge at the Institute, Frank Turner has chosen Uri Sade the winner of the award with his song Black Flag. In a video announcing the winner, Frank Turner said;
"This year I was asked to judge the Shure Songwriting Award which was a huge honour for me. The entries were amazing and the standard was really, really great and it was difficult to pick a winner."
Uri will receive a full scholarship to the Institute worth over £5000 along with £500 of Shure equipment.
The runner up, Anna Carow who wrote 'Brand New Summer Dress', will receive a partially funded scholarship and top Shure goodies as well.
