London, UK (Top40 Charts/ PerKelt) Critically acclaimed Medieval/Celtic speed folk band PerKelt officially releases their third CD Tuesday, 17 September, 2013. The album, entitled Dowry of a Troll Woman, will be the first release by the group to feature their new, U.K. line up with the addition of percussionist Will Connor. Currently a trio, PerKelt has further embraced the "speed folk" aspect of their self-developed genre, presenting original and traditional material, even more upbeat than their previous two releases.
Dowry still features the technically-proficient recorder work and multilingual vocals of child prodigy wind player Pavlina Bastlova and the classical guitar mastery of Stepan Honc. The two original members of PerKelt relocated from the Czech Republic to the United Kingdom after almost five years of working with other conservatory-trained bowed string players in Brno and Prague. Now based in London, Honc and Bastlova work with Connor after he completed his Ph.D. in ethnomusicology and percussion studies. "Being part of this exciting, unique group not only gives me the opportunity to put my research and performance experience to good use, it's also unbelievably fun!" says Connor about being the newest member of the band.
Bastlova, Honc, and Connor draw upon Medieval melodies and lyrics for source music and inspiration to compose their songs, performing them with a decidedly Celtic feel. Dowry maintains the energetic style found on the group's first two releases, but with a higher percentage of upbeat material. PerKelt's new CD is available in hard copy and digital formats at their performances and online shops as well as through the band's website, https://www.perkelt.com.
