Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt, The Black Crowes, Herbie Hancock, Phil Lesh And More Kick Off Capitol Theatre's Second Year
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) The Capitol Theatre will kick off its second year of presenting shows in Port Chester, NY, with an eclectic lineup of big name artists, including Willie Nelson & Family (9/18-19), Herbie Hancock (10/4), Alice Cooper (10/13), The Black Crowes in their only scheduled acoustic shows (10/18-22), Phil Lesh & Friends (11/1-3), Elvis Costello solo acoustic (11/11-12), and Bonnie Raitt (11/19). In addition to the star-studded lineup in the main hall, the theatre will present regular shows in Garcia's, their new lobby bar/venue open 7 days a week. Since reopening in September 2012 with a sold-out performance by Bob Dylan, The Capitol Theatre has hosted over 100 shows by an incredibly diverse range of artists, from My Morning Jacket and Fiona Apple to Morrissey and Al Green. Rolling Stone called The Cap "one of the best music halls in the country," and NPR hailed it as "the platonic ideal of a live music room." In a review of opening night, the NY Times wrote that "a rock theater that looks and sounds as good as the Capitol is something to celebrate," while Billboard said that "the lavishly decorated theater -- filled with mirrors, chandeliers and painstakingly restored detail -- looks absolutely stunning, and sounds even better."

In its distinguished history, the theatre, which was designed by celebrated architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 and is listed in The National Register of Historic Places, has hosted concerts by the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Derek and the Dominos, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, David Bowie, Santana, Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop, and many more. Beneath a 65-foot domed ceiling, the concert hall features a general admission floor, a seated balcony including VIP seats, and six presidential box suites. Now helmed by music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro (Brooklyn Bowl, Wetlands, U23D, Relix) and booked by Shapiro in partnership with The Bowery Presents (Anthony Makes), the theatre has returned to its former glory as one of the country's premier live music destinations with performances by a stunning array of top artists.

In the second season at the "new" Capitol Theatre, great attention is being paid to presenting a diverse range of artists and musical styles/genres. In the coming year, the theatre plans to feature jazz, electronic dance music, boxing, stage plays, heavy metal, and more, in addition to the already diverse ranks of rock bands, comedians, indie rockers, jambands, country and bluegrass artists, performance pieces, singer/songwriters, and rhythm & blues acts that highlighted the first season.
