New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The performer, singer and songwriter of gospel music known as Abbi-K has released her long-awaited debut LP record album, titled, "H.A.R.D.," to widespread critical and fan acclaim. The album has been released on the increasingly popular record label based in New York, Stile Records. It follows close on the heels of the first single to be published from the album, "Happily Ever After," which appeared in late October and which was the first glimpse of Abbi-K for many of her new fans.
The new album, "H.A.R.D.," is comprised of 15 original songs (including one extended remix) for an approximate total listening time of over an hour, making for a remarkably comprehensive treatment of Abbi-K's material and a round perspective of her rapidly growing repertoire.
Abbi-K's sound is rooted in her Caribbean upbringing, but blended also with elements of hip hop, rock 'n' roll, and pop music. A musical autodidact who writes her own music, she cites as main artistic influences such legends of reggae and R 'n' B as John Legend,
Lauryn Hill and
Israel Houghton. She was first officially introduced to the world with her 2009 EP record album, "Beginnings."
The themes of Abbi-K's "H.A.R.D." (Heaven's Advocates Riding Didactically), as may seem clear, are Christian in nature and belong to the mainstream genre of gospel music. Still, the anagram of the album title is perfectly suited to her musical style, which is often up-front, direct and audacious, not unlike the singer and pop performer, Pink.
Her precise and powerful natural singing voice remains the most ostentatious of her many musical charms, and she has been known for many years as a chanteuse capable both of great power and great delicacy. In addition to her spectacular singing ability, Abbi-K is proficient as a keyboardist, drummer, and guitar player.
