New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Nonesuch Records) Inside Llewyn Davis, the new film from Joel and Ethan Coen, which is now playing in select cities in the United States and is set to open in theaters across the country this Friday, earned top honors as the winner of four awards from the National Society of Film Critics this past Saturday: Best Picture; Best Director, for the Coen brothers; Best Actor, for Oscar Isaac in the title role; and Best Cinematography, for Bruno Delbonnel.
Inside Llewyn Davis was previously nominated for three Golden Globe Awards (Picture, Actor for Isaac, and Original Song for "Please Mr. Kennedy"), which will be awarded this coming Sunday. It was named Best Picture by the Toronto Film Critics as well as many US publications, not least the New York Times. The New York Times film critics A.O. Scott, Manohla Dargis, and Stephen Holden announced their picks for Academy Award nominations yesterday, with all three suggesting that Inside Llewyn Davis be nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Original Screenplay.
