America made Emmy history yesterday as HBO's epic mini-series broke the record held for 27 years by
Roots for the most wins by a mini-series with 11 trophies.
The 11 wins for Angels also drove HBO to a new network-best Emmy mark.
HBO, which went into the fray with a leading 124 nominations, hauled away 32 trophies, beating its previous record of 24 wins in 2002.
CBS still holds the industry record for most wins by a network in a single year when it rounded up 44 statuettes in 1974.
