Roots-rock Quintet The Sharrows Follow Up Smashing Debut With Exciting Upcoming EP
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ WiFi-PR Group) Madison, WI's own roots-rock group, The Sharrows, have spent their first two years forming a focused, successful group that can both record regularly and tour the country at the same time. Their appealing combination of folk, blues and country with an essence of groove rock has garnered them fans across the U.S. on their show-stopping tours in preparation for the release of their full-length album, Starting at the End, released earlier this year and their next EP set to be released in early 2014.

Formed in 2012, The Sharrows are a quintet of talent who just about all perform in different capacities and on different instruments, including Sylvia Janicki on bass guitar, cello and vocals, Matt Smith on electric guitar, Joe Hermanson on keyboard, harmonic guitar and vocals, Phil Sharrow on bass guitar, acoustic guitar and vocals, and Jake Bicknase on percussion and vocals. Having most of the band members all contributing vocals to their music adds a certain depth to their sound that is not commonly found in most rock bands featuring just one or two singers.

The group is most often compared to such artists as The Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead—all of whom they cite as chief musical influences. As for the content of their songs, The Sharrows pull from the wide range of life experiences of each band member to capture all aspects of life while not being contained to any one type of subject matter.

In June 2013, The Sharrows debuted with their first full-length album, Starting at the End. Next in line is an EP being presently recorded, and they are set to release a single from that EP in February 2014.

The Sharrows will soon have one of their tracks featured on WiFi PR's Indie Anthems Vol. 4. The digital mixtape brings together vibrant, independent talent in a variety of genres from all over the world and will be handed out as limited download cards at SXSW in March 2014.

The Sharrows toured from coast to coast in 2013 and shared show bills with a number of national acts, including Miles Neilsen and the Rusted Hearts, The Moondoggies, Murder by Death, The Lonely Wild, Wyatt, Big John Bates, Grass It Up, The Haymarket Squares and Motive. They also recently performed at Madison's Freakfest in October along with such big name acts as Lucius, Neon Indian and Matt & Kim.

As for upcoming live performances, The Sharrows have big things planned for 2014 with a two-week tour starting in January in which they'll visit Fort Wayne, IN, Bristol, TN, Nashville, TN, and other cities throughout the South and Great Plains region. These tour dates include:

Fri., Jan. 3: The Dash-In, Fort Wayne, IN
Sat., Jan. 4: Third Street Dive, Louisville, KY
Tues., Jan. 7: Martin's Downtown, Roanoke, VA
Wed., Jan. 8: O'Mainnin's Pub & Grille, Bristol, TN
Thurs., Jan. 9: Springwater Supper Club, Nashville, TN
Fri., Jan. 10: Humphrey's, Huntsville, AL
Sat., Jan. 11: Blue Canoe, Tupelo, MS
Mon., Jan. 13: P&H Café, Memphis, TN
Tues., Jan. 14: Bear's Den, Conway, AR
You can find more information about their show schedule on their website and ReverbNation page.
