CHICAGO, IL. (Top40 Charts/ Western Publicity) Belmez Entertainment LLC in partnership with The Sing Me a Story Foundation and The
Franklin Music Academy in Austin presents the Tiniest Rockstars in Texas. The event (details below) will be a showcase of young musicians from the Austin community with a philanthropic mission at its core. To understand the event, it is best to examine its roots at the Best Lil' Big Fest, an annual, unofficial showcase at The Tiniest Bar in
Texas during Austin's South By Southwest festival. The idea for Tiniest Rockstars was "born" at Best Lil' Big Fest 2012 when J.P. Ahmad of the
Franklin Music Academy approached Belmez Entertainment about a group of young musicians he had been coaching. His idea was to have the young rock band play a set during one of the Best Lil' Big Fest showcases. The idea was well received, and the set was a great success. From there, an idea was born.
The success of the events lead to the partnership with The Sing Me A Story Foundation. The premise behind The Sing Me a Story Foundation is that they give kids in children's hospitals, children's homes and organizations for children in need around the world the chance to write and illustrate stories. They then distribute those stories to songwriters who turn them into songs, record them and send them back to the kids and families via their program. It all takes place online and you can see what they're up to at www.SingMeAStory.org.
Belmez Entertainment is now producing Best Lil' Big Fest for the fourth year, and is excited to host The Tiniest Rock Stars in
Texas for the second time this spring. The process begins with a story written by a child from Gilda's Club Nashville selected by the participating bands. Young bands and musicians will be encouraged to visit the Sing Me A Story website to view the stories. Participating musicians can then compose and record their version of the story as a song and upload it to the website. The songs will be reviewed by the partnering organizations and three bands will be selected based on their rendition of the story. The three selected bands will be invited to perform a full set, including their Sing Me A Story song, at the Tiniest Rock Stars in
Texas event on Saturday, March 15th 2014. Their songs will also be featured on the Sing Me A Story website where they can promote individual campaigns to raise money for The Sing Me a Story Foundation, Gilda's Club Nashville and The Cancer Support Community Central
Texas in Austin.
This event brings attention to the importance of music and creativity amongst young people, but also how they can use that creativity to help others. With that being said, we are encouraging the philanthropic piece of this event by driving traffic to The Sing Me A Story Foundation website to support their meaningful work. The Sing Me a Story team will be at the event to meet the musicians, and help them fundraise for their songs by providing printed QR codes that link to the song's donation page. These donations will go to The Sing Me A Story Foundation, Gilda's Club Nashville and The Cancer Support Community Central
Texas in Austin.
