New York, NY (Top40 Charts / 965 Music Group) At this year's 56th Annual GRAMMY™ Awards, Zydeco favorite Terrance Simien & the Zydeco
Experience took home the "Best American
Roots Album" GRAMMY™ for Dockside Sessions, released independently via Simien's MusicMatters Records. Following Dockside Sessions' GRAMMY™ win, legendary record distributor Select-O-Hits, Inc. joined the Zydeco buzz and picked up the album for distribution. Simien's recent success is one of three major Zydeco milestones in 2014: Clifton Chenier received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Recording Academy, and Buckwheat Zydeco is the official honoree for the exclusive New Orleans Jazz Fest's 16th Annual Jazz & Heritage Gala.
In support of Dockside Sessions and Simien's continued mission to spread Zydeco's growing presence, the group has announced upcoming tour dates throughout 2014. Highlight performances include a 28th consecutive performance at New Orleans Jazz Fest - where Simien will perform at the aforementioned gala honoring Buckwheat Zydeco - and a headlining slot at Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia immediately prior to country icon Jason Isbell.
