Son of singer Chaka Khan arrested on murder charge

LOS ANGELES (Chaka Khan Fans Website) - Damien Holland, the son of legendary singer Chaka Khan, was arrested for murder Friday night by Los Angeles police.
Holland, 25, was taken into custody for allegedly killing a man at Holland's apartment complex. Police say Holland and the victim, an 18-year-old male, got into an argument and then struggled over a gun, described as a high-powered rifle. According to a neighbor, cops acting on a tip found the weapon on the roof of a nearby building and a magazine clip full of bullets on the sidewalk below.
Police sources say an emotional Holland was screaming at the detectives, claiming the shooting was an accident. Police originally booked Holland for a lesser charge, but raised the charges to First Degree murder when the victim was pronounced dead.
Bail for Holland has been set at just over a million dollars. It is unclear if his famous mother will get him out.

Khan is an 8-time Grammy Award winner known for her incendiary vocal style and a long string of hits including "Tell Me Something Good," and "I Feel For You."
Khan has been divorced from Hall's father for years.
