LOS ANGELES (Reprise Records/ Warner Bros. Records) - Reprise Records' Green Day will launch an extensive North American tour with New Found Glory and Sugarcult, kicking off in New Orleans, LA on October 16th.

The band, which has taken a hiatus from active touring since the release of "Warning" in 2000, are expected to perform material spanning their entire career, as well as tracks from "American Idiot," including the album's centerpiece, "Jesus of Suburbia," a mini-rock opera that features such new originals as "I Don't Care," "City of the Damned," "Dearly Beloved" and "Tales Of Another Broken Home."

Since its release, the title track has also shot to Number One on the Modern Rock Chart. It has been deemed Buzzworthy by MTV; Artist of the Month on Launch, the music destination of Yahoo!; and Green Day has received extensive media attention in both the alternative and mainstream press, as well as such music publications as Alternative Press, Spin, Bass Player, Drum and Guitar World.
Upon release of the album, Newsweek called "American Idiot" "one of the best rock albums and the biggest surprise of the year." Green Day recorded Sessions@AOL, to also be aired later this month on Fuse.

Green Day's upcoming tour will be hosted by Verizon Wireless, which will also launch an extensive promotion and publicity campaign utilizing the company's advanced voice and data network. MTV2 will be the media sponsor.
