Ghosts In Daylight; Electro-Not-Retro Collective Reveal Their 'Paper Heart'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Ghosts In Daylight official website) A debut four-song EP from a hybrid gathering offers up dreampop made from broken pianos, slapped body parts and iphone apps. It's backed by a surreal video with some disturbing stopmotion animation - you may not see roses in the same way again

Over the course of their short set, Ghosts In Daylight roam freely over the past three decades of electronic pop, managing to evoke synth-driven melancholia without a hint of nostalgia. Retro-futurist they may be, but retro they're not.

The widespread collective is fronted by writer/drummer Tim Heymerdinger, whose borrowed mantra for the project is "beauty is the new punk". Songs feature writing partner Meme Love's celestial, layered vocals, presented in a dialogue with vintage electronics, off-kilter drums and a thousand found sounds.

The final burnished pop result brings up everything from Bat For Lashes and Goldfrapp, with a twist of Little Dragon and the noir feel of early Eurythmics. "Intelligent, perceptive and achingly beautiful pop music, that is challenging and accessible in equal measure." (oliverarditi.com)

Distinctive artists/producers are part of the set up: Rich Huxley and Ed Waring of Yorkshire's own Hope and Social (Fierce Panda/Hunting Bears), and London's Tim Bazell, (nominated for a Mercury for his production of the Roller Trio album) also feature on the first EP. Mercurial collaborator from NYC Timo Ellis (Joan as Police Woman, Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon) features on tracks to be released.

Tim Heymerdinger decided that cinematic visuals were an obvious choice, and so hooked up with video writer/director Emma Nathan after seeing her work with Anna Calvi. Nathan was inspired by the dark lyrical content of lead track 'Paper Heart', and the resulting phantasmagoric story recalls the work of French director Michel Gondry and Jean Cocteau's 40's classic 'La Belle et Le Bete'.

"Ghosts In Daylight comes from the idea that so much of what we experience is made by people and entities

that go unnoticed - good and bad - under-the-radar," explains Tim. "I work with an amazing group of people whose work stands out because making beautiful stuff drives them, not the acknowledgement of it."

The 'Paper Heart' EP will be released independently on Monday 28th April 2014 on Bandcamp (as "you

choose what to pay" to make it more accessible), and on itunes and other digital stores Thursday 15th May.
