LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Sticky Toffee PR) Marty McKay, the Zurich born artist who has performed at Glastonbury (2009) and toured with Vanilla Ice, brings Project 7 to the masses bursting with high ideals and self exploration.
Project 7 amalgamates literature through the excellent Dante's Disciple (written by David McAfee) with Marty's debut concept album Sin's Disciple, which sees Marty bringing brilliant lyrical textures through the genres of alternative rap and metal.
Dante's Disciple is a post apocalyptic graphic novel that reminds you of great books from the genre like V For Vendetta. It is just as un-abashed as it explores the seven deadly sins through visceral, engaging prose and vivid illustrations enticing the reader into the world of Sunder City and the main protagonist Scott Norton.
While the novel cajoles the senses intellectually, the album with excellent cuts like Emptiness Returns or Darkness Surrounds You allows Marty to add polemical weight regarding the deadly sins and indeed makes us question what we define as 'sin'.
Production on the album comes from platinum producer Thomas J. Gyger and Fredrik Strömberg (their songs were used in TV series such as CSI or Boston Legal) with lyrical content ostensibly by Marty with co-writing credentials going to names like the legendary Canibus: it's a sound that evokes memories of an early Limp Bizkit when Fred Durst had more hair!
Project 7 is a multi-media extravaganza-a fearless undiluted assault on the senses.
While the subject matter is at times dark and challenging this project positively seeks to explore the oldest subject in the world: human fragility-it requires your full attention!
