Crowder Makes Highly Anticipated Solo Debut With "Neon Steeple," Out May 27, 2014
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Missing Piece Group) Critically acclaimed artist and songwriter Crowder will release his highly anticipated solo album Neon Steeple on May 27th via Capitol CMG's sixsteprecords. Long embraced for his tenure as the frontman of the wildly progressive group David Crowder Band, this is his first set of new music in 2+ years and marks his official entrance as a solo artist. Upon the release of his first album single "I Am" last fall, the song has remained in the Top 10 tracks on National Christian radio, peaking at #3, and reaching 6.6 million listeners per week.

David Crowder's unique blend of folk/pop/electronica style combined with his outstanding musicianship, profound lyrics, and intricate songcraft creates a sound that any fan of a catchy tune can appreciate. Neon Steeple features 14 new tracks of ear-perking originals, including the powerful "My Beloved," the foot-stomping "Lift Your Head Weary Sinners", and the graceful "My Sweet Lord" which also includes a special guest duet with folk legend Emmylou Harris. What was originally an idea formed from a stunning image of a steeple on the horizon, this new album continues to highlight Crowder's knack for innovative songwriting. Prior to embarking on a major US headlining tour at the end of September with special guests All Sons & Daughters, Capital Kings and Ellie Holcomb, Crowder will perform at many top festivals over the summer as well as a stop at Nashville's famous Grand Ol' Opry.

"Neon Steeple is a collection of songs and sounds looking forward to the past and counting the present as sacred," remarks Crowder. "It is a longing for belonging, a search for home. It is a collection of choruses that believe that this is not all there is. It is the sound of the Appalachians and Ibiza. Folk music and EDM. The music of the People. Folktronica. Digital and Analog. The Ones and Zeros and the Handshake. The Banjo and the 808. Neon Steeple is both a critique and a hope."

David Crowder has been embraced for his lyrically powerful, musically elaborate, and unpredictable songs that have found themselves being sung everywhere from churches to clubs all across the country. In November 2012, Crowder released his first solo project, Crowder: iTunes Session which delivered nine stripped down organic tracks to many of Crowder's most loved originals. As part of the David Crowder Band, they were named one of the "most thoughtful, progressive and exciting acts in contemporary Christian music" by The New York Times, garnering 9 Dove Awards, 22 Dove nominations, and 2 GRAMMY nominations.

The band released their final collection of new music with the GRAMMY nominated project, Give Us Rest, which entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #2, debuted at #1 on iTunes, sold 50,000 copies in the first week alone, and gave the band their highest debut in their 12-year career. The David Crowder Band has sold over 2 million albums, 2.9 million digital tracks, and had 11 Top 10 albums on Billboard's Christian Albums Chart, including four that reached #1. In 2009, the band released the "SMS [Shine]" music video (watch here) to much critical acclaim. With over 1.89 million views to date, the video uses Lite-Brite animation and was featured in Paste, Endgadget, EW, and more. Crowder has also penned two books including his popular release, Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, but Nobody Wants to Die.
