Sydney, AU (Sony BMG Music Entertainment) - The nominees for the 2006 Brit Awards have just been announced, and the very fabulous Franz Ferdinand have been nominated for three awards. The guys, who took home two Brits last year, are up for Best Band, Best Live Act and Best Rock Act. Fellow nominees include Katie Melua, Natasha Bedingfield, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend.

"We're really chuffed to be nominated this year," Franz frontman told NME.com. "It seems like only yesterday that we won at the Brits, but we're excited to be nominated again."

Franz were nominated for five awards last year, and scored the gongs for Best Rock Act and Best British Group. Fingers crossed they can repeat that success this year when the Brit Awards ceremony takes place on February 15 in London!

Franz fans will also want to note Sunday, January 15 in their diaries - it's the day the band release their debut live DVD! Just the thing to get you in shape for dancing like a maniac at the Big Day Out!
