LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Morpheus Rising) - Morpheus Rising, an indpendent band from York, England, released their first commercial single, Fighting Man, on Nov 2nd in aid of Armed Forces charities HELP for HEROES and the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal. Available in physical format exclusively from Amazon UK they topped the pre-release CD single charts and, since release, have remained in the Top 5 of the CD single charts holding on to No 2 for 5 of the last 6 days, beating off competition from major label artists like Leona Lewis, Westlife and the Black Eyed Peas. The MP3 version has also maintained a Top 100 position in the AmazonMP3 Hard Rock charts. The success of Fighting Man belies the fact that the band have received no National media coverage in music press or radio stations. When asked what they put the success down to Grae Tennick, lead vocalist of the band, said: "We've embraced all the new media opportunities available to independent artists in these exciting times for the music industry. Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, they've all played their part. We've literally achieved this by the power of the button!"
