BRENTWOOD, TN. (Sparrow Records) - Sparrow Rock band Sanctus Real embarks on its first headlining tour on the heels of its best-selling, critically acclaimed sophomore album, Fight The Tide. The 25-plus-city Fight The Tide Tour features special guests BEC Recordings'
Seven Places and Tooth and Nail Records' Hawk Nelson, and introduces the band, Ever Stays Red. Hitting the West Coast and the Midwest, the tour launches Sept. 24 in Medford, OR and travels to such major markets as Los Angeles, Seattle, Reno, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas and Oklahoma City.
While on tour, Sanctus Real will play fan favorites, including its first multi-format hit single from Fight The Tide, 'Everything About You,' which held the No. 1 position for six consecutive weeks (R & R Rock). Additionally, fans will be able to view the band's new 'Everything About You' music video as it is being serviced to national broadcast outlets this month. (The video can also be viewed online at the web links featured below.) The second consecutive No. 1 for the band this year, the song follows Sanctus Real's hit 'Beautiful Day,' from the multi-artist project, In The Name Of Love: Artists United For Africa.
Working with Food for the Hungry for the first time, the tour will be sponsored by the Phoenix-based relief agency that was founded in 1971. The organization helps some of the world's most disadvantaged people in 37 countries through child-development programs, agriculture and clean-water projects, health and nutrition programs, education and micro-enterprise loans.
'We're excited to be working with Sanctus Real on this tour,' says Christopher Redner, who directs the artist program at Food for the Hungry. 'We were very impressed with them during Festival Con Dios. There's an integrity about them that's evident in their music, their performances and the way they relate to people.'
'The Fight the Tide tour will offer audiences opportunities to make great choices that can have a huge impact in their lives and the lives of at risk children around the world,' continues Redner. 'Sponsoring a child, going on a short-term missions team, volunteering or serving as a Hunger Corps missionary through Food for the Hungry – these are life-changing experiences that align well with Fight the Tide's call to 'accept God's strength and do the right thing.''
This year's Modern Rock Song and Album Of The Year Dove Award nominees, Sanctus Real has become well known for its captivating live performances. Currently performing for tens of thousands on tour with Jeremy Camp, CCM Magazine says, 'The more you hear, the brighter [Sanctus Real's] future looks…' Seven Ball says, 'With soaring melodies, spiritual lyrics that aren't clichéd and potent rock energy, this is a band to see live and sing along with.' Group Magazine says, 'This is joyful music that lifts the heart and spirit…Fight the Tide forms a lifestyle guide for the Christian hoping to walk the path of Christ instead of lockstep with the world. When a guidebook sounds this good, you're certain to reference it repeatedly.' ChristianityToday.com calls the project, 'Explosive and infectious…an enjoyable rock album that is meaningful, catchy, and loud, performed with musical excellence.' In a 5-star review, CMSpin calls the album a 'MONSTER HIT.'
Over the last two years, the band has played hundreds of concerts for hundreds of thousands of music fans, including performances as a featured band on the multi-artist Festival Con Dios and See Spot Rock national tours. Sanctus Real has also been voted 'Best New Artist' by the readers of CCM magazine, and ChristianityToday.com named Sanctus Real a top pick for its '2003 Best New Artist.'
