New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today, British indie rock band The Vaccines announce their new album Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations will release on January 12 via Thirty Tigers. Produced by Andrew Wells (Halsey, Phoebe Bridgers), the band's sixth studio album is the epitome of what they do best: 60's-inspired classicist guitar pop filtered through new wave, with equal parts euphoria and melancholy. Along with the announcement the band share their anthemic new single "Heartbreak Kid," an instant Vaccines classic that was unveiled at a secret show in London earlier this year.

"There are two types of people in the world - people that have had their heart broken and people that haven't had their heart broken yet," says lead singer Justin Young. "'Heartbreak Kid' is a call to arms, a reminder that in a world where too many of us feel too detached too often, facing your feelings head on can make you feel more alive, even if it feels like the world is ending. It's a song to keep you company on the busy freeway that connects loss to discovery."

Featuring 10 new songs packed with hooks and melodies and pop smarts, Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations is a record that drips with fun while also exploring the ways real life lets us down. "It's about loss," Young says. "And coming to terms with that loss - not necessarily grieving for it, but trying to get a new understanding of it." The album's title comes from a misremembered lyric in Don McLean's "American Pie," a song that for Young fittingly evokes the death of innocence and the American Dream. After he moved to Los Angeles Young was forced to confront the disillusionment that comes when expectations, dreams and reality don't quite meet. Though Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations is an album about reconciling with that loss, it's also filled with gratitude for the people and places we once loved.

Torchbearers for British guitar music, The Vaccines formed in West London in 2010. They have released five UK Top 5 albums, including their debut What Did You Expect from the Vaccines?, which is certified platinum and was the country's best-selling debut album of 2011. The band has forged a fierce live reputation performing on main stages at Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Coachella, in addition to touring with The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse. They have received widespread critical acclaim, with NME calling them "A band still at their very best and still brimming with ideas, invention and - most importantly - a knack for writing great songs," and Paste Magazine declaring "Rock bands just don't come any more inspiring than this these days, and they just keep getting better and better."

The Vaccines are Justin Young (lead vocals, guitars), Árni Árnason (bass, vocals), Timothy Lanham (guitars, keys, vocals) and Yoann Intonti (drums). Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations was recorded at producer Andrew Wells' home studio in Los Angeles, with mixing from Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, The Flaming Lips).
