Marco Antonio Solis, Thalia, Juanes, Juan Luis Guerra, Olga Ta?on, Pepe Aguilar, Conjunto Primavera, Franco de Vita, Aleks Syntek, AB Quintanilla III, and
Daddy Yankee are scheduled to perform at the 2005 Billboard Latin
Music Awards. Hailed as the nation's most important and prestigious Latin music event, the awards show will be held Thursday, April 28th at the Miami
Arena and will be produced and broadcast live on Telemundo at 7PM ET/PT. Tickets to the event are on sale through Ticketmaster and the Miami
Arena box office.
Headlining this year's 2005 Billboard Latin
Music Awards are

Juanes and Thalia. The show's impressive lineup reflects a high-profile mix of music genres and personal styles that promise to set the stage on fire while setting the tone of a high-energy production with live performances.
Marco Antonio Solis, considered one of the great songwriters of contemporary Latin pop, will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his distinguished 20-year musical career. He is also the year's biggest finalist competing for eight awards in seven categories including: Hot Latin Tracks Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Latin Pop Album of the Year, Male - "Razon de Sobra;" Latin Greatest Hits Album of the Year – "La Historia Continua" and "Dos Grandes", and Hot Latin Track of the Year and Regional Mexican Airplay Track of the Year, Male Solo Artist for "Mas que tu Amigo". Colombian artist Juanes, a finalist in five categories including Hot Latin Tracks Artist of the Year, Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Hot Latin Track of The Year – "
Mas Que Tu Amigo", Latin Pop Album of the Year, Male – "Mi Sangre", and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, Male – "
Nada Valgo Sin Tu Amor", promises to rock the house. Mexican megastar Thalia, whose performance will mark the premiere of one of her new songs, is a finalist in two categories including: Latin Greatest Hits Album of The Year - "
Greatest Hits" and Latin Dance Club Play Track of The Year - "
Don't Look Back".
Tropical music fans will enjoy performances by
Juan Luis Guerra and Olga Ta?on. Recognized as the person who took Bachata-the traditional music of the Dominican Republic-to the mainstream, Guerra will perform and be honored with this year's
Spirit of Hope Award for his humanitarian work through the
Juan Luis Guerra y 4.40 Foundation. Guerra's newest album, "Para Ti," is a finalist in three categories for the 2005 Billboard Latin
Music Awards including: Tropical Album of The Year, Male, Latin Christian/Gospel Album of The Year, and Tropical Airplay Track of The Year, Male – "
Las Avispas". In addition, Puerto Rico's queen of Merengue music Olga Ta?on, known for her vocal prowess, energy and beauty, will perform her new hit "
Bandolero" for the first time before a live audience.
In the Regional Mexican genre, fans will be treated to performances by Regional Mexican music idol Pepe Aguilar, a finalist in the Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, Male category - "Miedo," who will offer his unique interpretation of the Ranchera genre, and the popular Regional Mexican music group Conjunto Primavera, which will also take the stage to perform. The group is a finalist in two categories including the Regional Mexican Airplay Track Of The Year, Male Group - "
Hazme Olvidarla" and Hot Latin Track Of The Year, Vocal Duet - "
Corazon Encadenado" with Graciela Beltran.
Also joining the star-stellar line-up of performers is Venezuelan singer and songwriter Franco De Vita, an icon of Latin American contemporary music who has achieved 40 gold and 20 platinum records. He is a Billboard Latin
Music Awards finalist in three categories: Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, Male - "

Bringing in a dosage of rock/pop is singer/songwriter Aleks Syntek, also from Mexico, and a finalist in three categories including Latin Pop Album of the Year, New Artist - "Mundo Lite," Hot Latin Track of the Year, Vocal Duet and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, Duo or Group for "
Duele El Amor" with Ana Torroja.
AB Quintanilla III, a finalist in the category of Latin Pop Album of the Year, Duo or Group – "
Fuego" will bring his fusion of urban and Latin rhythms to the stage and reggaeton sensation Daddy Yankee, a finalist in the new category of Reggaeton Album of the Year – "Barrio Fino" promises an electrifying performance of this unique genre that's taking the country by storm.
