Malaysian Youth Wins Grand Award In Gatsby Styling Dance Contest 2010-2011
New York, NY, CA (Top40 Charts / GATSBY Styling Dance Contest) A Malaysian youth has won a grand award in the "GATSBY Styling Dance Contest," Asia's biggest student dancing contest hosted by Mandom Corp., headquartered in Osaka City, to promote its leading GATSBY brand series of products globally.

The winner, Jackson Chua, enabled Malaysia to produce a victor for the second straight year in the annual contest, the third of its kind. It targets students from Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan -- the Asian economies where GATSBY products are sold.

A total of 1,653 individuals and teams, up from 1,491 in the previous year's competition, took part. In keeping with the GATSBY brand, points are awarded for hairstyles and fashions in addition to dance techniques.

Seven finalists, who won their way through different rounds of the competition in each country and region, gathered at Shibuya's O-EAST in Tokyo on Feb. 19 to compete for the top prizes. The winners were as follows:

1. Greatest GATSBY Award
Jackson Chua (Malaysia)
Evaluation: Chua won over the audience with a performance that showcased his dance technique, charisma and supreme power of concentration. Seemingly making use of every joint in his body, Chua's fluid movements, dress sense and hair styling made him a worthy winner. The result underscored once again the high level of dance technique in Malaysia, which produced a grand final winner for the second straight year.

2. GATSBY Award
Mad Skills Styler (Japan)
Evaluation: The team showed its determination to win from the preliminary stages of the contest. In terms of energy, originality and technique, Mad Skills Styler overwhelmed the competition. The judges gave the Japanese team almost the same score as they awarded Jackson Chua, but the voting by foreign student judges allowed the Malaysian to edge the team for the Greatest GATSBY award.

3. Grooving Award
D-girls (South Korea)
Mad Skills Styler (Japan)

4. Styling Award
LJ (Indonesia)
We Want Funk (Singapore)

5. Foreign Student Judge Special Award
SINCE 70s (Hong Kong)
Jackson Chua (Malaysia)
RELAX (Taiwan)
