New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ NMPA) - The National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA) will honor one of the most successful and prolific songwriters of all time, Diane Warren, with the 2010 Songwriter Icon Award at the NMPA's Annual Meeting in New York City June 16.

"The NMPA is thrilled to recognize a true living legend, Diane Warren, with the 2010 Songwriter Icon Award," said NMPA President and CEO David Israelite. "For more than 25 years, Diane has written some of the most popular songs of all time, crossing genres and generations in an unsurpassed way. Her songs have topped charts, brought movies to life and made some of the biggest recording stars of the last three decades shine brightly. The publishing community takes special pride in honoring her, as she also owns her own publishing company."

Warren's songs have been featured in more than 100 motion pictures resulting in 6 Academy Award nominations. The Grammy award-winning songwriter has been nominated for 9 Grammys, 4 Golden Globes and has been named ASCAP's Songwriter of the Year 6 times. In 2001, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Some of her big movie hits include "How Do I Live" performed by Trisha Yearwood for Con Air and also a chart-topper sung by LeAnn Rimes as well, "Because You Loved Me" sung by Celine Dion for the film Up Close and Personal, "Music Of My Heart," sung by 'NSYNC and Gloria Estefan for the film Music Of The Heart, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" performed by Aerosmith for Armageddon, and "Do You Feel Me" from American Gangster. Recently, Diane wrote an original song performed by Cher in the much-anticipated Screen Gems' movie, Burlesque starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. Other beloved hits include If I Could Turn Back Time performed by Cher, I Get Weak performed by Belinda Carlisle and Un-Break My Heart performed by Toni Braxton.

Throughout her career, Warren has written for iconic artists such as: Aerosmith, Elton John, Tina Turner, Faith Hill, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, LeAnn Rimes, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, and Barbra Streisand. Diane continues to work with popular acts of today, including: Whitney Houston, Cher, Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls, Carrie Underwood, Joss Stone, Daniel Bedingfield, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Simpson, Mary J. Blige, Akon, Sean Kingston, Charice, and Jennifer Hudson among many others.

She has developed a new romantic duo, Due Voci, whose album being released on June 8 will be distributed by Universal Music Group. The duo was introduced in Jakarta, Indonesia at the Java Jazz Festival to a crowd of over 10,000 including the President of Indonesia who is a fan of Diane's songs. PBS is airing a Diane Warren Special in June with performances of Diane's songs by Due Voci and many other stars.

Warren owns her publishing company, Realsongs, the most successful female-owned and operated business in the music industry.

The Icon Award recognizes outstanding songwriters for personal achievement and who personify the vision of NMPA and the goals of its members. Former recipients include Kara DioGuardi, Amy Lee, Neil Sedaka and Jimmy Webb.

The NMPA Annual Meeting will be held from 4-6 p.m. at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, 1535 Broadway, followed by a cocktail reception. Members of the media are invited to both the meeting and reception.
