Miami, FL (Top40 Charts/ Nina Gordon Public Relations) - A high-tech mix of blowout performances came together last night during Univision's 7th Annual 'Premios Juventud' youth awards show. The completely sold-out show was presented LIVE from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami starting at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). With 28 unconventional categories, 'Premios Juventud' is the only awards show on Spanish-language television that celebrates the preferences of this country's Hispanic youth. Puerto Rican superstar Chayanne, as well as kings of bachata Aventura were this year's top winners, each taking home three awards.

Chayanne won for 'Best Moves,' 'Favorite Pop Star,' and 'My Idol Is' and Aventura for 'Catchiest Tune,' 'CD To Die For' and 'Favorite Tropical Artist.' Wisin y Yandel and regional Mexican artist Espinoza Paz also won multiple awards, each taking home two statuettes in their respective categories, Wisin y Yandel for 'My Favorite Concert' and 'Favorite Urban Artist' and Espinoza Paz for 'Favorite Regional Mexican Artist' and 'Red Hot Artist.'

Showcasing the largest number of artists and musical acts in its history, 'Premios Juventud' delivered some of the most anticipated duets and performances ever seen live on stage this year. To kick-off the celebration, international superstar Shakira opened the youth awards show floating onto the stage on a 'magic carpet' to perform her new single 'Gypsy.' She then performed 'Waka Waka (Esto es Africa/This Time For Africa)' fresh off the closing ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa and was accompanied by 1,000 fans who danced the now familiar moves along with her.

Multiplatinum recording artists Enrique Iglesias and Juan Luis Guerra took the stage together for the first time in U.S. television to perform their recent duet 'Cuando Me Enamoro,' as well as Venezuelan artist Carlos Baute and Spanish diva Marta Sa'nchez who performed their popular song 'Colgando en Tus Manos.' Regional Mexican Music icon Pedro Ferna'ndez, pop group Camila and Mexican singer/actress Anahi' also delivered some of the most romantic moments, singing their most recent and popular ballads.

In one of the night's biggest numbers, reggaeto'n superstar duo Wisin y Yandel paired up with the Hollywood freestyle dance crew of the movie 'Step-Up 3D' for the debut of their latest single 'Irresistible' and were later joined by fellow reggaetoneros Jowell y Randy to sing their joint remix of 'Loco.' Hip-Hop sensation Pitbull also blew the audience away with a high-impact performance of his greatest hits and took the stage a second time during the show for the highly-anticipated presentation of the hit 'Egoista' alongside Mexican pop singer Belinda. Bringing the audience to its feet were up and coming group Chino y Nacho who sang their chart-topping single 'Nin~a Bonita;' while Colombian singer/songwriter Juanes made a special appearance to perform his latest hit 'El Yerbatero.'

Additional highlights include the performance of singers/songwriters Diego Torres and Noel Schajris with 'Guapa,' Prince Royce with 'Stand by Me,' Larry Herna'ndez singing 'Carita de Angel,' reggaeto'n diva Ivy Queen with 'La Vida es Asi',' Espinoza Paz' rendition of a medley of 'Al Diablo Lo Nuestro' and 'El Pro'ximo Viernes,' Cristina Eustace with 'Lo Fiado' and singer/actress Dulce Mari'a's highly anticipated debut as a solo artist, delivering the show's colorful closing number with 'Inevitable.'

Two of the evening's most memorable moments arrived when Shakira and Juan Luis Guerra each received special awards. In recognition of his long trajectory, cross-generational appeal and outstanding talent as a singer/songwriter, Guerra received the special 'Idolo de Generaciones' award which was handed to him by Juanes accompanied by Guerra's niece and former Miss Universe, Amelia Vega. Shakira was honored with the 2010 'Supernova' award for her exceptional musical career and received the award from Venezuelan actor and Hollywood artist Wilmer Valderrama.

Additional winners include former RBD member and actor Alfonso Herrera ('Can He Act or What?') and Hollywood actress Zoe Saldan~a ('She Steals the Show') who took home awards in the Film categories along with the blockbuster hit 'Avatar' ('Favorite Flick'). In the Sports categories, once again young Hispanics declared their love of New York and baseball, choosing the New York Yankees as the winner in the 'I'm a Die Hard Fan of...' category, while New York Yankee Alex Rodri'guez was chosen as 'Most Electrifying Male Athlete,' golfer Lorena Ochoa as 'Most Electrifying Female Athlete' and FC Barcelona's soccer star Jonathan Dos Santos as 'Promising New Player.'

Novela heartthrob William Levy and his leading lady in Univision's hit novela 'Sortilegio' (Love Spell), Jacqueline Bracamontes were the winners in the Style categories 'What a Hottie' and 'Girl of My Dreams;' while the ever elusive Mexican crooner Luis Miguel was declared 'Paparazzi's Favorite Target' and Puerto Rican artists Luis Fonsi and Adamari Lo'pez were awarded the prize in the 'Torrid Affairs' category.

In addition, in what has become a 'Premios Juventud' tradition and as part of Univision's 'Es el Momento' education initiative to inspire young Hispanics to further their academic achievements, three deserving young Hispanics were awarded scholarships. Univision news anchor Maria Elena Salinas presented Romina Sa'nchez of Miami, FL with the scholarship in Academics; Efre'n Alcala' from El Monte, CA received the Sports scholarship from the hands of the captain of the Honduran World Cup team Amado Guevara and Noel Schajris presented Ba'rbara Rami'rez of Tracey, CA with a scholarship in Fine Arts.

A star-studded celebrity arrivals show, 'Noche de Estrellas' (Night of Stars) preceded the awards telecast and was kicked-off by Puerto Rican urban duo Dyland y Lenni. The arrivals show was hosted by 'El Gordo y La Flaca's' entertainment reporter Carlos Caldero'n, 'Sa'bado Gigante's' Alejandra Espinoza, and Mexican singer/actress Carla Medina along with fashion experts Rodner Figueroa ('El Gordo y la Flaca') and Kika Rocha (Fashion Editor for People en Espan~ol).

Last night's winners were chosen by enthusiastic fans voting on www.PremiosJuventud.com online and on their mobile phones. The site will feature extensive post-show coverage of the winners and presenters, including exclusive interviews, photos, and unlimited access to the behind-the-scenes action. In addition, video from the show will be accessible online and on the Univision Video App, available across top Smartphones. The excitement continues as fans vote online for the best outfits and hottest couples from the 'Premios Juventud' carpet. Online voting opened last night and will continue through Monday, 10amET.
