New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Vareèse Sarabande Records is delighted to congratulate composer Carter Burwell on his second Academy Award™ nomination for Best Original Score for THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE OF EBBING, MISSOURI. The film was nominated for seven Oscars yesterday.
Varese Sarabande has a longstanding relationship with Burwell, having released the soundtracks for many of his films including the 2016 Best Original Score nominee CAROL, as well as RAISING ARIZONA, MILLER'S CROSSING, THE HUDSUCKER PROXY, and MILDRED PIERCE.
"This film really felt like getting back together with my family," said Burwell of working on THREE BILLBOARDS. "Frances McDormand, can do anything. We've done so many different things together, including FARGO, OLIVE KITTERIDGE and going back to BLOOD SIMPLE.
Martin McDonagh, with whom I previously worked with on IN BRUGES, has similar sensibilities to me, and I'd be happy to work with him on anything."
The label would also like to congratulate composers Evgueni and Sacha Galperine, who wrote the music for the Best Foreign Language Film Nominee LOVELESS. "Director Andrey Zvyagintsev's cinema always shows the invisible link between the intimate stories of human beings and the universe. And often the music personifies this link," said Evgueni. "Finding the way to express this connection was the most incredible and gratifying challenge."
