Classical-Crossover Soprano Barbara Padilla To Perform At Berklee College Of Music On October 27, 2014
BOSTON, MA. (Top40 Charts) Celebrating the release of her new self-titled debut album, Barbara Padilla will perform her first concert in Boston on October 27th, 7:00 PM at Berklee College of Music's David Friend Hall. The concert will be preceded by a vocal master class from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Berk Hall 1A. Admission is free to both events.

Bárbara's musical director will be Berklee alumnus and pianist, Cheche Alara. Also accompanying Bárbara will be Ramón Stagnaro (nylon guitar), Carlitos del Puerto (upright bass), Ray Yslas (percussion) and Salpy Kerkonian (flute).

"I'm looking forward to my first performance at Berklee College of Music and the opportunity to teach a special master class," says Bárbara. "I have always benefited from an academic approach to my craft and learning about a song and its origins. Diligent preparation can create a richer performance and I hope to convey that through my class and the concert."

The set list for the concert will include a number of songs from Bárbara Padilla. Recorded at the legendary Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Abbey Road Studios in London (with the London Symphony Orchestra) the album showcases the artistry of an illustrious multi-Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning team: Gregg Field and Jorge Calandrelli. It is a rich collection of colorful, carefully arranged pieces that reflect Bárbara's diverse music passions, blending opera, instrumental classical music and contemporary pop.

Fluent in Spanish, English, Italian and French, Bárbara earned her Masters degree from the University of Houston's Moores School of Music. This happened at the same time that Bárbara was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, fighting the disease and ultimately receiving a life-saving bone marrow transplant. Her voice was unaffected and she completed her degree on a full scholarship. After graduation, Bárbara taught voice and earned several roles with various opera companies. Always thriving on live performances, she was encouraged to audition for "America's Got Talent" in 2009. Her soaring vocals on such songs as "Time to Say Goodbye (Con Te Partiro)" and "Ave Maria" inspired praise from the judges and fans alike, and earned her first runner-up status.

Bárbara's journey now continues with her long-awaited debut album. Bárbara Padilla illuminates her miraculous voice with a new collection of timeless music that is certain to inspire her fans in America and abroad.
